Condor is a recognized industry leader in the application of full-depth reclamation using foam asphalt technology for reconstruction of existing rural and city roadways. Full-depth reclamation, more commonly called FDR, is the technique of pulverizing the existing pavement and underlying base materials with the addition of various additives including asphaltic oil, cement, and lime. This method builds a new stabilized base upon which new asphaltic concrete (AC) can be overlain. Condor has particular expertise in this process using hot asphalt, the technique commonly known as foam asphalt.

Condor has provided design and construction oversight services for the City of Chico, City of Merced, City of Stockton, City of Porterville, County of Yolo, County of Butte, Caltrans State Route 84, and others. County, City, and State officials consider this as the green solution to severely deteriorated roads. The process reuses the existing in-place materials rather than using imported new materials that must be mined and trucked to the project site. As a result of the successful application of this technology, Condor and the City of Chico were recently awarded Outstanding Civil Engineering Project for Geotechnical Projects for their 2008 East Avenue work in Chico. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) provided the award in recognition of the successful application of the technology in an urban environment where the technology had not been previously applied. Congratulations to the City of Chico and the Condor staff for their award. For additional information, please contact Ron Skaggs, PE, GE.
